About the Artist:
Mr. Johnson grew up in the Black Hills of South Dakota and started as a photojournalist while serving in the Navy. His interests expanded to include nature photography while working as a canoe guide in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northern Minnesota. Mr. Johnson resides in Anchorage, Alaska with his wife and four feline children.

This official 50th Anniversary Alaska Statehood merchandise series celebrates all of the icons of Alaska, those things that people think of when they think of Alaska, such as bears, eagles, Denali, glaciers, the aurora borealis, and many other of our natural and cultural wonders. The images reflect my journeys from the Gates of the Arctic National Park & Preserve in the Arctic Circle to the spit in Homer, Alaska, and my attempt to capture, via photography, the wild creatures and scenic places of Alaska. |
